Our Toddler program is for children ages 15 months to 2 years old.
We follow a 5:1 teacher child ratio.

Every toddler will experience loving,
stable, and nurturing relationships in a safe, supportive
environment that promote their physical, emotional,
social and cognitive development and well being. These
experiences provide the basis for successful learning.

Qualified staff who demonstrate cultural and linguistic
competency are available to effectively interact with children and families.

A variety of activities, strategies, and materials are used to meet the
diverse needs of children and families.

We feel that parent communication is essential to providing quality toddlers care.
Each morning our staff will ask that you inform us of any special needs for the day. At
pick up time, you will receive a complete report of your toddler's day including a
sleeping, eating, disposition, and diapering summary. We also offer an open door
policy which allows for parents to come into the center at any time of the day. Families
are welcome to come in during the day for a visit or just to peek in.

We use the
Teaching Strategies GOLD to create lesson plans, child portfolios and
assessment.
You can:
• Use a personalized communications journal to keep in touch with us and stay up-to-
date
on what your child is doing at school. The journal allows you to view and respond to
our
observations of your child while he/she is at school.
• View your child’s electronic portfolio that includes photos, scanned artwork, and
other
electronic samples of his/her interactions at school.
• Complete a developmental survey to assess your child’s progress and view reports
on your
child’s development. This survey also helps us to get a complete picture of your child’
s skills
and abilities, so that we can better support his/her learning here in the classroom.
• Get personalized activity recommendations for your child that are based on our
assessments of your child’s development. These fun and engaging activities are
directly
related to our curriculum, so you can support your child’s learning at home.
• Learn more about child development,
our curriculum, early childhood education, and

Families will also receive a receive a school wide newsletter each month.

Penny Lane Schools adhere to the
Illinois Birth to Three Program Standards and
Quality Indicators. These standards and quality indicators reflect current
knowledge, research findings and shared beliefs about high-quality,
developmentally appropriate early childhood care and education in the context of
programs for infants and toddlers and their families. The current research on infant
and
toddler development supports and validates the importance of quality programs and
services for young children in partnership with their families, schools and
communities. Implementing these standards and quality indicators will lay a
foundation for future growth
and development that promotes the child’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive
well-
being leading to successful learning as appropriate for each child
