TEACHER ASSISTANT I-Employee must have a High School Diploma or GED. Employee must also have a minimum of 12 college credit hours or 5 years’ experience
working in Early Childhood Education.
*TEACHER ASSISTANT II- Employee must have a High School Diploma or GED. Employee must also meet one of the following criteria: Have a CDA credential equivalent
as defined by NAEYC as at least 12 college credits in ECE, EDU, CD; or Hold a current Child Development Associate (CDA) awarded by the Council for Professional
Recognition. As of 7/1/17 Employee Assistants with a date of hire prior to 7/1/02 will be grandfathered into this category.
*TEACHER I – Employee must have an associate’s degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education and be working towards a bachelor’s degree in ECE/child
development. An equivalence is defined as 60 college credits with 30 college credits (semester hours) in CD early childhood education, child development, elementary
education (must still have at least 15 credits in ECE) or early childhood special education that encompasses child development and learning of children birth through
kindergarten; family and community relationships; observing, documenting and assessing young children; teaching and learning; and professional practices and
development, including relevant field based experience.
*** At the discretion of the Director, if a current staff member is within one semester of meeting the Teacher I qualifications, they may assume that position. There must be a
contract signed
indicating the position is contingent on meeting the requirements within six months or they will be placed back to assistant status.
*TEACHER II – Employee has a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or early childhood special education that
encompasses child development and learning of children birth through kindergarten; family and community relationships, observing, documenting and assessing young
children; teaching and learning, and professional practices and development. Equivalence is defined as a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 36 college
credits (semester hours) in early childhood education, child development, elementary education(must still have at least 15 credits in ECE) or early childhood special
education that encompasses child development and learning of children birth through kindergarten; family and community relationships; observing, documenting and
assessing young children; teaching and learning and professional practices and development, including relevant field based experience.
SCHOOL AGE TEACHER ASSISTANT- Employee must have a High School Diploma or GED. Employee must also meet the requirements of Teacher Assistant or have a
minimum of 12 credit hours in elementary education.
SCHOOL AGE TEACHER- Employee must have a High School Diploma or GED. Employee must also meet the requirements of Teacher I/II without having to meet the ECE
minimum requirement. The equivalent would be defined as 60 college credits with 30 college credits (semester hours) in early childhood, child development, or elementary
education.
